Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (October 21st) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
What do you make out of the Cowboys from a fantasy perspective on MNF? “[Tony] Romo’s a great play. He’s had 12 touchdowns in his last 15 games against the Redskins. The Redskins pass defense is bad. Terrance Williams is a good sleeper this week because of the fact that he catches a lot of touchdowns in Dallas and the Redskins pass defense has struggled. Remember, DeAngelo Hall is already out for the year.”
How about Washington? “I can’t start anybody with confidence except for Jordan Reed. DeSean Jackson has one touchdown in 10 career games against the Cowboys. Pierre Garcon has been hit-or-miss all season long. Colt McCoy: need I say more. I’m not starting Colt McCoy and Alfred Morris has not been good on the road historically, but he’s been good against the Cowboys so I still would start Alfred Morris but I think Jackson’s a risk. He’s a three. I think Garcon’s a three but he’s a risk. Again, Jordan Reed is the only guy I would start with confidence. The Cowboys have really struggled against tight ends and Reed has led the Redskins in targets the last two weeks.”
Is it time to add waiver wire quarterbacks like RGIII, Johnny Manziel or Ryan Mallett and sit on them if you can afford to? “I think RGIII. I don’t know about Manziel or Mallett. The quarterback position is pretty deep but I’ve done that in a couple of my leagues where RGIII was available and I needed a quarterback. Picked him up…so if you’re looking for a quarterback he’s going to be the guy when he comes back for the Redskins.”
