Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (November 5th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.

I have Lamar Jackson and Russell Wilson. What’s your advice on who to play? If you have both, Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson, why in the world would you not trade one of them? It’s hard to trade elite quarterbacks because the position just doesn’t have the value. I was actually looking to trade Lamar Jackson in one of my leagues. I could not get anyone to trade me a really good elite running back. I still would try and see what I needed on my roster. Maybe a running back or a wide receiver and trade one of those guys.”

What’s the latest you’ve been hearing on Patrick Mahomes’ status? So, there’s still a percentage that if he plays he can re-dislocate that kneecap and I don’t know if you’d want to run the risk. That’s another situation where you’re probably gonna see Mahomes getting limited practices during the week, but if he’s running with the first-team offense at practice, things are looking pretty good for him. Kansas City this week plays Tennessee, I believe. So, obviously if Mahomes comes back, he’s virtually a must-start.”

Let’s stick to quarterbacks looking to get healthy. How about Jacoby Brissett with the Colts? I don’t think they’ve ruled him out for this week yet. So, I’m gonna say this and don’t be surprised: Brian Hoyer is a viable fantasy quarterback. Why? Miami. They’re playing the Dolphins. I honestly think that you can do worse than Hoyer because of the matchup.”

How do you handle David Johnson, if healthy, seeing what Kenyan Drake did against the Niners on Halloween? “I heard reports that David Johnson is expected back this week. If he does come back, and I hope he does, that’s going to limit Drake’s snaps, assuming David is 100 percent and I don’t know why the Cardinals wouldn’t bring him back if he wasn’t 100 percent. So, if DJ is back, I don’t think you can play Drake because the Buccaneers have the best run defense in league. So if Drake is playing a secondary role behind a healthy David Johnson, then Drake is a sit. If Drake is starting and David is still out, than Drake is a volume-based option, probably as a two or a flex.”
