Every Wednesday during the season NFL Network and NFL.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (September 17) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
Do you see Jay Cutler posting solid fantasy numbers against the Jets Monday night? “He has been very good on the road against AFC teams. In fact, he has had at least two touchdown passes and nine total in three of his last four games against AFC competition on the road and the Jets are giving up an average of over 21 fantasy points to quarterbacks this year. Run defense good, pass defense no good.”
Is it too early to go grab Josh Gordon and stick him on my bench? “If you have a loaded roster and you don’t have a player you can drop, then you’re all set. But if you have a fifth running back who’s not helping you…if you have a second kicker or defense, I don’t know why you would have either one of those two but if you do you can get rid of those. Then you do it. Go out and grab a guy like Josh Gordon but don’t drop a player who you would be using over the next several weeks.”
I’m sitting on Austin Seferian-Jenkins: how much longer should I wait? “I don’t ever tell people to draft rookie tight ends so bench him and actually cut him. Rookie tight ends just don’t do anything in the National Football League. It’s very, very rare. Four tight ends heading into 2014, of the 79 drafted, and I believe the stat was since 2009, only four have finished in the top 20 in fantasy points at the position. They just don’t produce.”
