Every week during the season NFL Network and NFL.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (November 24th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
Are you buying Brock Osweiler right now? “I wanted to see what he was able to do and he played well but now he’s playing the Patriots. Is he rosterable? Yeah. Is he startable next week? I don’t think so. In fact if I had to pick up a quarterback and start him this week it would be either Jamesis Winston or Brian Hoyer who has cleared concussion protocol and is playing the Saints. When you play the Saints, oh boy, that’s a good match up.”
Jameis Winston or Carson Palmer? “Carson Palmer is a must-start now. I mean, unless you have Cam Newton and Palmer or Tom Brady and Palmer. He’s so good and against the Niners he’s going to have a big game.”
From a fantasy perspective what is your view on Marshawn Lynch for the rest of 2015? “Honestly, we don’t have any definitive news on him yet but I think he’s done for the regular season…I’m speculating but I don’t think we’re going to see Marshawn again so that makes Thomas Rawls even more valuable. So if he’s available on your waiver wire pick him up if it’s first-come, first served. Put in a bid for him or grab him right now because he is likely going to be Seattle’s running back the rest of the season.”
Is James White worth a roster spot? “No. Belichick is back. We thought it was going to LaGarrette Blout. He did have 16 carries [Monday] night but I can’t trust James White. I just can’t do it.”
Does Adrian Peterson’s hamstring injury scare you at all? “Not hearing anything that causes me to have any concern and he has a really good match up this week. Peterson is usually one of those guys…he’s going to be fine.”
Tony Romo or Teddy Bridgewater this week? “I don’t like Romo this week against Carolina. That defense is good but I don’t I don’t like Bridgewater, either. Again, if you’re going to sit a guy like Romo you’re going to be picking up Hoyer or you’re going to be picking up Winston.”
Who are some quarterbacks you like/don’t like this week? “Eli Manning lately has been very good against the Redskins and the Redskins have been bad. I like Ben Roethlisberger this week in Seattle. On paper it’s a terrible match up but look at the numbers. When Seattle’s actually faced a good quarterback, those quarterbacks have actually done pretty well. So I like Big Ben, I like Blake Bortles, as well. Jay Cutler: three touchdowns and 13 turnovers in his career at Lambeau Field. That is not good. Matt Ryan: avoiding him. Same thing with Tyrod Taylor as I don’t like the match up with Kansas City…they’re giving up fewer than 10 points per game in their last four games.”
How about running backs? “On Turkey Day I like DeMarco Murray, Jonathan Stewart. Start Chris Ivory this week. [T.J.] Yeldon is a very good play. I don’t like Jeremy Hill this week. I didn’t like him last week and he still had a pretty decent game. I still don’t love the match up against St. Louis. Latavius Murray is still someone I would be afraid of starting this week based on the match up.”
