Johnson was a versatile athlete for the Huskies last fall, also starting at cornerback and playing some wide receiver, as well.
“Cole is definitely looked at as one of the leaders of the team,” Horizon coach Ty Wisdom said to Sports360AZ.com. “His vision was to be a top-tier kicker, a Division-I kicker. It’s just awesome to see him accomplish those goals because he’s put in the work to deserve that.”
He admits, perfecting his craft has been a work in progress.
“My kickoffs have improved,” Johnson explained to Sports360AZ.com. “As I was younger…I couldn’t kick touchbacks as often. As I hit the weight room and got bigger and stronger I could definitely see the extra yards coming in.”

The 5-foot-11, 160-pounder, who also excels in the classroom, connected on six of his nine field goal attempts as a senior. After a tough early schedule, Horizon rallied and made the playoffs. They finished 6-5.
