There is always something going on for high school student athletes with games, practices or workouts as well as studying and jobs outside of school. It is easy them to get wrapped up in the bubble that is their every day life as a teenager. Recently however, a handful of Saguaro football players and cheerleaders put everything aside to give back to someone they didn’t know.
Benny Rodrigiez is a 15 year old who attends Kofa High School in Yuma. Benny has acute lymphoblastic leukemia and a little over week ago, he was forced to be flown up to Phoenix Children’s Hospital for emergency treatment. Benny and his family know Saguaro linebacker Brandt Casey back from when Casey’s family lived in Yuma. Brandt, with the help of his Mother Donna, rounded up some of teammates as well as Cheerleaders to visit Benny at PCH.
The impact was felt not only by Benny, but also the teenagers who came to see him.
