Three Dot Thoughts…

Todd Graham and his sixth grade son climbed in the back seat of the truck that was taking the three of us to Red Cabin Ranch outside of Vernon, Arizona.
It was just before 5am last Friday as we started out on our fly fishing expedition on Sun Devil legend Danny Whites property. Graham did most of the talking on the hour long drive. To say that he is fired up for the coming season would be the understatement of the year.
Grahams son caught the first fish of the day with some assistance from White. The coach was shut out, something that I don’t believe will happen this coming season on the football field…

I didn’t learn about the death of Tony Gwynn until getting off a houseboat at Lake Powell last Thursday. It hit me like a 50 pound weight in the chest. Tony was my color analyst for San Diego State basketball games. People may not know that Gwynn was as very good player on the hardwood and was the all-time assists leader for the Aztecs. Gwynn happened to be in Houston with the San Diego Padres during the Suns playoff showdown with Houston in 1994. I was doing my show from the hotel lobby with Gwynn when Charles Barkley walked through the lobby. I motioned for Charles to come over and join us, I ended up turning off my microphone and let Tony and Charles play off each other. It was a great night!…

The World Cup match this Thursday between Germany and USA starts at 9am. I will be watching the game and doing the show from the Titled Kilt in downtown Phoenix. Come one out and watch the World Cup with me.
I guess not having Landon Donovan on the roster wasn’t the kiss of death to the USA team. However, I’d prefer Donovan be on the team rather than my TV after games…
