The class of 2020 has attracted college coaches from around the country to scour the entire state. Maricopa County is obviously a hotbed for recruits, and Tucson has had some of its strongest classes ever.
And multiple Power 5 programs have made their way to Florence to check out three-star defensive end Regen Terry.
The 6-foot4, 240-pound defensive end holds offers from Boston College, Arizona, Arizona State, Iowa State, Nebraska, Kansas State, Boise State, Cal, Fresno State, UNLV, Oregon State, San Diego State and Utah.
He and his father just took an extensive trip to visit multiple campus throughout the country. He recapped each visit with Sports360AZ:
Cal: “It’s pretty unique. The life with academics, life after football because football not’s always going to be there. They have some great support systems and internships you can do. The facilities are really unique. I had never seen those before, so that’s really nice and the campus is great.”
Kansas State: “It’s a college town. They’re behind you. They have a really good coaching staff with (Chris Klieman) so they have that championship culture. They’re flipping it really fast. (Defensive end coach Buddy Wyatt) is a really good coach, sees me playing as a (defensive end) in a 4-3, which is great.
Iowa State: “They play a 3-4, playing a five-technique at defensive end. Culture-wise, it’s only going up with two straight winning seasons…It will be interesting to see what they do.”
Nebraska: “They’re crazy about their football. Coach Frost is changing the culture….His players are buying in. They have all the facilities they need and the nutrition and strength (programs), which is great. That’s my cup of tea right there.”
Boise State: “Definitely a family. Everbody has the same good things to say. The city is booming and it’s rising. Playing in the Mountain West, they have a chip on their shoulders because they beat Pac-12 teams and Power 5 (teams) so they’re the real deal.”

He will also be visiting Boston College, where his father works for the program.
“They’re in need of an edge rusher and I fit that,” Terry said. “He’s putting no pressure on me. I’m going to be my own man and it’s going to be my decision.”
Terry also caught the attention of multiple Sun Devil coaches at an ASU big man camp earlier this month. Defensive line coach Jamar Cain watched him for much of his workout.
“It’s pretty good. It’s always a great relationship with me and Jamar, it’s a good deal. I was grateful he wanted to work with me to get better.”
Terry takes a lot of pride that he is being recruited by multiple Power 5 programs while playing in a “country town” as he puts it. He hopes to help get his teammates and the Florence community more attention.

“The colleges look at the Chandlers, Hamiltons, Saguaros, bigger programs,” Terry said. “It’s a big thing for my community and for my school, so I want to keep doing my thing and it help my team chase those same dreams and aspirations.”
Currently, Terry said the programs jumping out to him include Arizona, Kansas State and Nebraska.
Terry said his versatility and position flexibility are a few things that colleges like most about him. He hopes to cut his list down in July and commit after his senior season.
