Former UCLA running back and Chandler Wolves star Paul Perkins will start his NFL career with the Giants after being selected in the fifth round with the 149th pick.
Perkins was a dynamic, shifty running back for Jim Mora and accumulated 3,491 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns. Perkins teamed up with fellow Chandler Wolf Brett Hundley to combine for 20 wins in two years for the Bruins.
He also supplied a great balance to true freshman quarterback Josh Rosen in Perkins’ final year with the Bruins.
According to Pro Football Focus, Perkins “forced 85 missed tackles last season and his elusive rating of 115.0 was first in the nation”.
Perkins will look to compete instantly as the Giants’ leading rushing was Rashad Jennings, who ran for 863 yards in 2015.
