After a long week of waiting, the news Arizona fans have been dreading is out.
Four-star quarterback Braxton Burmeister announced Friday that he has decided to attend the University of Oregon.

Burmeister initially committed to Arizona in 2014, but re-opened his recruitment in March of 2016. Two months later, he recommitted to Arizona.
After Willie Taggart was hired at Oregon, the Ducks made a late push with an offer in early January. The Arizona Daily Star reported last weekend that the push was made in part because of Burmeister’s close connection with personal trainer, Akili Smith, who played at Oregon and later in the NFL.
Congratulation to @Braxton1B and his offer to @oregonfootball. I feel like a proud step dad. @MBASports1 #AST pic.twitter.com/XcObySlUbS

The loss of Burmeister is a huge blow to the Wildcats’ 2017 class. Arizona has only two returners at quarterback, Brandon Dawkins and Kahlil Tate. Head coach Rich Rodriguez’s son, Rhett, is now the only committed quarterback in the 2017 class.
