ASU football may not play in their bowl game for a few more days, but they already won the week by earning a verbal commitment from dual-threat quarterback Jayden Daniels over UCLA, Utah and Cal.

The four-star quarterback was the top remaining uncommitted signal-caller in the class and the #2 composite quarterback in 2019 according to 247Sports.
As a two-year starter at Cajon High School in San Bernadino, CA, he threw for 9,654 yards, 122 touchdowns and just nine interceptions. Oh, he also rushed for 2,282 yards and 31 scores as well.
Daniels is the third quarterback to commit to the Sun Devils in this class, joining Ethan Long and Joey Yellen.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound quarterback brings a lot to the table, according to this assessment from 247Sports:
Tests as one of the better athletes among the quarterbacks in the 2019 cycle. Has a quick, compact throwing motion with the ability to drive the ball downfield from the pocket and off-platform. Does a nice job of changing ball speed and putting touch on throws. Adept at operating a high octane spread offense. Reads defenses and quickly identifies coverage busts. Dangerous in the RPO game with his vision, quick trigger and running ability. A legitimate run threat who stresses defenses not only as a vertical and quick passer but with the ability to rip off chunk runs and pull away from some defensive backs at the second level. Is the most prolific top quarterback from a stats perspective in the 2019 cycle. Can continue improving the consistency of his mechanics and release. Will need to add significant mass to sustain hits at the next level. Projects as a multi-year Power 5 starter with the upside of being an all-league quarterback at the helm of a highly productive offense if put in the right situation. Projects to an early round NFL draft selection.
247Sports National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman joined The Five-Star Sitdown on Wednesday and previewed how a commitment from Daniels could transform this ASU 2019 class.
Daniels plans to enroll early and be ready for spring ball with the Sun Devils.
