He held offers from ASU, Boston College, BYU, Hawaii, Michigan State, Nebraska, Oregon State, San Jose State, UCLA and Washington State. It didn’t take long for Hughes to make his decision. He announced his top-five of the Sun Devils, UCLA, Michigan State, Washington State and Oregon State last Friday.
The 6-foot-2, 212 outside linebacker is the second commitment from California in this class, joining four-star defensive back Ely Doyle. The Sun Devils had zero commits from California when Signing Day 2017 rolled around. They did sign Ceehjay French-Love, Darien Cornay, Kobe Williams and DeMonte King as late additions to the signing class.
2018 Class Update
Hughes is the fourth commitment of the class, joining Doyle, three-star cornerback Dominique Harrison and three-star running back Brock Sturges.
Arizona State has recruited the city of Calabasas before. Former Sun Devil quarterback and current San Diego Charger Mike Bercovici grew up there.
