The Arizona Cardinals continue to be not only the buzz of the Arizona sports scene but that of our neighbors to the north, as well.
In Las Vegas the bookmakers have been busy as their consumers have been flooding to the sports books as the Cards continue their upward trend towards what some believe could be a run to Super Bowl 50.
“It’s very apparent the Cardinals are good, you’re getting better,” long-time Las Vegas bookmaker/South Point Casino Resort oddsmaker Jimmy Vaccaro told Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat during his weekly interview Thursday morning. “We’ve taken a lot of money on them in the last week and half…[they’re] definitely one of the favorites. People are falling in love with [them].”
Arizona enters the weekend as the largest favorite (seven points) of any of the eight teams left. When the then injury-riddled Packers and Cards met last month Bruce Arians’ team opened as a four-point favorite. The betting line eventually moved to six by kickoff. Arizona jumped out to a fast start and won the game going away 38-8.
Their NFC West rivals have also been popular this weekend in divisional round play which kicks off Saturday.
“Right now the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks are gathering the most attention,” Vaccaro said.
Make no mistake, the Cardinals’ success on the field and in the casinos is no mirage in the vast Arizona desert.
