Future Wildcat Allonzo Trier Puts Talent On Display in AZ

Arizona Sports News online

For the second year in a row, the great Findlay Prep basketball program made their way to out to Phoenix to participate in the Meritas Desert Classic at Rancho Solano. Last season they took on eventual state championship teams in Pinnacle and Corona del Sol. In showcase games this weekend, they took on Hillcrest Academy on Friday and defending division II champion Shadow Mountain on Saturday.

Someone who will be making his home in Arizona after this season on the Findlay roster is senior guard Allonzo Trier. He officially signed with the University of Arizona as part of their 2015 class in November. He wore a U of A t-shirt during warm-ups and couldn’t help but notice the amount of red and block A’s in the crowd watching him play.

“All the hospitality of the fans coming out and showing love to my teammates and I, I really enjoyed it,” Trier said. “It was great.”

Even though the Wildcats had a big game at home against Michigan on Saturday afternoon, Sean Miller and assistant Joe Pasternick made their way up to Scottsdale to catch Trier play on Friday night.

“They were really impressed, they thought I played great,” mentioned Trier. “They are just ready to see me keep improving and are excited to have me their on campus.”

As mentioned, Trier signed with Arizona last month along with Chance Comanche, Justin Simon and Ray Smith which is being called the number one recruiting class in the nation going into next year. Making it official was an exciting moment for him.

“I was proud to sign with such a great university,” he explained. “I am just proud to be a part of something so great and I am excited for the future.”

While on the road and traveling with one of the nation’s top high school teams, he is still making sure to keep tabs on his future team.

“We’re on a great run, I am supporting them, I am watching every game,” he said. “I am just ready to see us continue on, get better and have a great season.”
