The number one seed in the Division II state tournament came out like it in their first action of the playoffs against Cactus Shadows on Saturday night. The Vikings held the Falcons to just five points and held a ten point lead after the first quarter and never looked back, winning 64-53. Sunnyslope’s Michael Humphrey lead all scorers with 18 points.
Despite the slow start, Cactus Shadows did not go down without a fight as they outscored Sunnyslope 33-28 in the next two quarters led by CJ Davis who led the Falcons with 16 points. But they weren’t able to mount the comeback in the fourth quarter.
Sunnyslope moves onto the quarterfinals to face Tucson Sahuaro on Wednesday from Jobing.com Arena.
