Golden Rule: Peoria O-Lineman Commits To Boise State

Hard work on and off the field has paid off for Peoria High’s Jacob Golden. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound offensive lineman committed to Boise State Wednesday afternoon.

“I love the upside,” Sports360AZ Recruiting Expert Jason Jewell said of Golden. “Two years ago he was a skinny tight end. He has worked hard, filled out and blossomed into one of the top offensive tackles in the state.”

Golden had several offers from around the country from schools like Air Force, Brown, Nevada, Idaho, San Diego State, Washington State, Utah State and NAU.

A nimble athlete who also plays basketball, Golden is still learning the position but has the skill-set to make the transition to the next level once he arrives in Boise.

“Playing so little offensive line, he needs to continue to work his technique and strength,” Jewell explained. “But that will come. He is a hard worker and coach’s son with extremely high character and grades.”

Golden took an unofficial visit to BSU earlier this month before deciding the Broncos were the perfect fit to continue his academic and football career.

A Valley native, Eric has had a passion for the Arizona sports scene since an early age. He has covered some of the biggest events including Super Bowls, national championships and the NBA and MLB playoffs in his near 20 years in local media.
