Two weeks from today Arizona State’s dream of a Pac-12 South title could be over. USC and UCLA are on the calendar the next 13 days. Part of me wants to believe that the last three-quarters against New Mexico were pretty good for a dress rehearsal. The other side of me thinks that there have already been too many injuries and losses to the offensive side of the football for the Sun Devils to be able to mount much in the way of points. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver fired a shot across the bow of women’s basketball this past week. “We thought the WNBA would’ve broken through by now, we thought the ratings and the attendance would’ve been higher.” I was the original play-by-play voice of the Phoenix Mercury 20 years ago and I coached both of my daughters in club basketball so I am a fan of giving women an equal opportunity. With that said, I have to agree with what Silver said. He added “if there were a silver bullet-an easy answer-we would have made the change.” I would suggest the WNBA powers that be, sit down with the people who run women’s tennis. THAT sport has figured out how to be mainstream…
