Hamilton Goes to Michigan For New Head Coach

On Friday, Hamilton High School hired Michael Zdebski as head coach from Walled Lake, Michigan.

The 2017 Michigan High School Football Association Coaches Hall of Fame selection has coached for 30 years and, according to his bio, held a 203-98-1 record going into this past season.

He led the Walled Lake Western Warriors to an 8-2 record in 2017 and has been with the school since 1994. 

The search for the Huskies’ head coach consisted of over 50 applicants from seven different states. A person close to the search said Coach Zdebski’s “reputation is tough discipline and wins against bigger schools with more talent.”

The Huskies were led by Dick Baniszewski last season and held an 8-4 record. “Bano” took over the program after Steve Belles was reassigned amid a hazing scandal within the program.

Coach Zdebski was the 2013 Detroit Lions Coach of the year and won state championships in 1996 and 1999.
