At any level of football, two quality running backs are always better than one.
Although Chase Edmonds has only started three games as an Arizona Cardinal, his value and production when called upon has been evident each and every time the third-year back is in the game.
In Sunday’s thrilling 37-34 overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks (5-1), Edmonds’ late heroics helped cap a remarkable comeback against arguably the beat team in the NFC.
Taking over after starter Kenyan Drake was carted off with an ankle injury, Edmonds finished with 58 rushing yards on five attempts (11.6 yards per carry) and was even more lethal in the passing attack reeling in seven receptions (on seven targets) for 87 yards.

“It’s just a testament to my hard work,” Edmonds said via Zoom after the game. “I busted my [butt] this off-season. From the start, even before COVID was beginning, I just kept working every single day…behind closed doors. You work like that for opportunities like this.”
It seems like every time Chase Edmonds is on the field he is making a play.

Drake left late in the fourth quarter and, as of now, there is no timetable for his possible return. If he is sidelined and misses any additional time this season, expect the versatile Edmonds to get more volume in Kliff Kingsbury’s Air Raid offense.
“You never know when your time is going to come,” Edmonds explained. “I’ll be ready to answer the bell.”
The 5-2 Cards have their bye week next Sunday before returning to action November 6th against the Miami Dolphins.
