Recruiting Update: 4/12
*Probably the biggest news story effecting college football over the past week has been the scandal at Arkansas with the firing of Bobby Petrino. It does effect Arizona recruiting in a big way. Arkansas has been recruiting Arizona hard because of offensive line coach Chris Klenakis’ ties to the state. The Razorbacks have offered several local players including Priest Willis, Chans Cox, Cole Luke, Devon Allen, Marcus Farria and Tyler Bruggman. Bruggman, the Brophy Prep QB, unofficially visited last week, despite all of the turmoil. He said his visit was “great”.
Will a new coaching staff effect how they recruit Arizona? If Klenakis is gone, you have to assume it will. There have been some rumors that Arkansas will hire former offensive coordinator Garrick McGee (current UAB head coach) and they will keep the staff intact. If true, one can assume they will continue to recruit AZ.
*On a side note, Bruggman will also unofficially visit Michigan State this week.
*Chans Cox has really heated up. Cal and USC offered the 6-3 230 pounder from Blue Ridge this week.
*One kid I expect to blow up is Williams Field DE Drew Burgesser. He was offered by South Dakota State on Thursday and after watching film, he is a kid that will get heavily recruited because of the effort he plays with. At 6-2 230, he is a beast off the edge for Coach Campbell.
