“Godfather” is Nervous for High School Opener…

The high school football season kicks off Friday night. Among the top storylines to follow in 2019 is Brophy Prep head coach Jason Jewell. “Headed into my first game, sure i have nerves, but I feel really good because of the kids in the program and the staff we hired.”  Yes, I am rooting for Jason to have success. He was a big part of Sports360az.com over the last seven years. No one had a bigger following on the high school front than “The Godfather”.  In fact, Jason never wanted the nickname, that’s not his style. I’m the one who coined the phrase because of his selfless devotion to helping high school players and coaches without seeking the attention. Brophy v Liberty, a game to watch for sure on Friday night…

Got a check-in text from Perry quarterback Chubba Purdy on Thursday night. ” How are your knees doing?” Class act by the future Louisville Cardinal QB. Perry vs Pinnacle will be a fun one . If you’re a fan of seeing players who will be playing for years beyond high school, drop in at Perry Friday night, there’s close to a dozen kids who will keep suiting up after they graduate…

Hamilton coaches tell me that they feel good about the growth of the program, I just don’t know about depth. Opening at Chap against the Jack Miller show is no walk in the park…

I am anxious to see how the Jaguars do in 2019. They start against Verrado Friday night.  By the way, good to see other media outlets now chasing the South Mountain story. The program deserves more attention…

The high school football schedule  is dotted with out-of-state powerhouse programs the first few weeks. Mater Dei, Cathedral Catholic, Faith Lutheran(Las Vegas), Capitol Christian(Sacramento) Notre Dame(Sherman Oaks), Palm Springs and several others will take on Arizona programs. Great to see the interest continue…
