It was trial by fire for Trent Ramsey in his freshman season.
The Higley varsity team had to practice with the freshman team one morning because of a band competition and head coach Eddy Zubey decided to through Ramsey against Ty Robinson, Jason Harris and Logan Maxwell, three of the top defensive linemen in the state.
Ramsey got beat, but held his own, and that led to him joining the varsity offensive line and starting at right tackle the rest of the way.
Arizona State took notice and offered Ramsey, along with multiple 2022 in-state prospects while on a mass visit. Now, Ramsey is looking to lead along the offensive line in his sophomore season.
He caught up with Sports360AZ to talk about how Year 2 at the varsity level is going, the ASU offer and how he’s looking to improve.
