It’s takes one to know one, right?
Well, Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon believes Arizona Cardinals second-year quarterback Kyler Murray is already on the precipice of greatness, at the tender age of 22.
“Kyler is a guy whose ceiling is unbelievable because he’s only going to continue to get better,” he said in a recent Skype interview with Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat. “He was [Offensive] Rookie of the Year last year. He had a solid season. Started off slow got better as the year went on.”
Moon believes Murray’s jump from his rookie year to 2020 will be sizable, especially considering the offensive weapons he has around him – most notably Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins who came over in an off-season trade from the Texans.

People are no longer questioning Murray’s stature (he’s listed at 5-foot-10) but Moon feels his height can, at times, limit what he does and, more importantly, what he sees in the pocket.
“I’ve been around Russell Wilson most of his career up in Seattle,” he said. “I know there are times, a lot of times, in games where he just can’t see.”
The 6-foot-3 Moon says the biggest limitation for shorter quarterbacks like Murray is seeing and making throws over the middle because of inside pressure, which forces some QB’s to throw to the outside more.
“Fortunately, he has that ability to move around and make something happen, like a Russell Wilson,” he noted. “He can make some plays…there are some disadvantages to being that height but there are some advantages as far as moving around like those guys can and put the pressure on the defense.”
