Hornacek and Suns moving towards a deal

Arizona Sports News online

Valley resident Jeff Hornacek, is moving closer to becoming the next head coach of the Phoenix Suns. Yahoo Sports reported overnight that the organization has offered the job to the former Sun and that two sides are working on the staff and terms of the contract.

I have been pushing Hornaceks name on the Big Guy on Sports radio show since the end of this past season when it was apparent that interim coach Lindsey Hunter would not be back.

Hornacek, has been working with the Utah Jazz organization in various capacities since 2007, the last two seasons as an assistant coach.

Hornacek, 50, was pursued by Danny Ainge for the Boston Celtics head coaching job back in 2004, but turned the job downd. The Celtics went with Doc Rivers as their second choice.
