Former Brophy Bronco Isaiah Oliver Drafted by Falcons

Isaiah Oliver was one of the most versatile playmakers to ever come out of Arizona.

The former Brophy Bronco notched 15 touchdowns, seven interceptions and five blocked kicks as a senior. He also won three state championships in track in his senior season.

He now brings that versatility to the Atlanta Falcons after they selected him with the 58th overall pick in the second round.

Despite Oliver’s impressive stats and next-level size, his recruitment was pretty quiet. The Colorado Buffaloes were his only Power-Five offer. In three years with the Buffs, Oliver had 67 tackles and three interceptions. He was an All-Pac-12 selection his junior season and was a key part of the defense that led Colorado to their Pac-12 championship appearance in 2016.

Here is Pro Football Focus’ assessment of Oliver:

Isaiah Oliver has the body type that NFL teams covet in 2017, with the size, speed and length to be able to play man coverage on the outside and challenge for any deep ball. That body type does cause him problems at times when throttling down and changing directions at speed, but his talent is evident. Will remind many of his former teammate Ahkello Witherspoon, who was drafted a year ago in the third round and flashed plenty of ability as a rookie in San Francisco. May not be a star right away, but has huge potential.
