Well, this was awkward. The Wisconsin Badgers and Arizona Wildcats faced off two years in a row in the Elite Eight and unfortunately for Brandon Ashley and the Wildcat faithful, both didn’t pan out in their favor. The two meetings in the NCAA Tournament in 2014 and 2015 were two high intensity, high energy games. In the more recent of the two, Wisconsin forward Sam Dekker went off from three point land in route to Wisconsin shooting 80% in the second half in route to another Final Four appearance.
On Wednesday in Phoenix, the two reunited on the floor against one another for a pre-draft workout with the Suns and Ashley was able to get Dekker back in a small way.
Not only did Ashley have Dekker there at the workout, former Sun Devil Bo Barnes also participated. So there were rivals and college foes everywhere Ashley looked though he spent a majority of the workout guarding former Syracuse forward Rakeem Christmas.
