Chaparral quarterback Jack Miller holds offers from some of the top programs in the nation. On Sunday, he gave his pledge to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

“Me and my family really just felt comfortable after meeting with them and talking to all the coaches,” Miller told Sports360AZ. “I had a really good visit. Before, every single visit was so good. They’ve pretty much been the frontrunner I want to say ever since they offered me.”
Miller is ranked the #3 pro-style quarterback prospect in the nation for the 2020 class according to 247Sports. The 6-4, 210-pound quarterback had a busy summer, visiting the Buckeyes, Alabama, Michigan and Michigan State.
“I wanted to commit early enough that I could build the rest of my class and get all the players I want,” Miller said.
After a record-setting freshman season at Scottsdale Christian Academy, Miller transferred to Chaparral. His father said Jack was struggling after the death of Gerald Mauvis, a family friend of the Millers, who tragically died after being struck by a car. The accident happened next to SCA’s field while Jack was playing.
Initially, the AIA denied the Millers’ hardship waiver, meaning he would have to sit out the first five games of the season, but that was overturned two games into Jack’s sophomore year.
Miller threw for 1,735 yards with 20 passing touchdowns and six interceptions. He rushed for 306 yards and four additional touchdowns in 10 games.
Miller will now lead the Firebirds with plenty of talent returning on the offensive end. Brent Barnes is in his first year with the Firebirds from Oklahoma, where his teams led the state in passing yards the past six years.

“I think our culture is changing, and everyone’s really buying in this season,” Miller said. “Our offense is going to look really good. We have pretty much just about everyone coming back except for one of our really good players, Conlan Carey. I think we’re going to be really set. We have every single position you could want. Our line is good….I feel like our offense is going to click on another level.”
The Buckeyes also recently offered Miller’s teammate and Chaparral running back Darvon Hubbard. The quarterback has been in his teammate’s ear “all the time” about joining him in Columbus.
Jack Miller Evaluation
Sports360AZ recruiting expert Jason Jewell had this to say about Jack Miller:
I saw Miller as a freshman and thought he had a chace to be special. He tore up 2A competition as a freshman and since transferring to Chaparral, there has not been a drop-off in his play. He has good size, a strong arm and is an underrated athlete. It’s crazy to think he has two more years of high shcool play before he heads to Ohio State.
Miller and the Firebirds make the jump up to 6A and open their season on August 17th on the road against Hamilton.
