Every Thursday ASU legendary quarterback, now Pac-12 Network studio analyst Jake Plummer joins Brad Cesmat on Sports360AZ.com presented exclusively by the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
Here are some highlights from their most recent conversation December 13th.
Jake’s takeaway from Stanford after their performance against ASU in the Pac-12 Championship game: “Stanford to me, really I think they should be in the National title game. They are the best team in the country. I think they would beat FSU and Auburn and LSU and Alabama. They are probably the best team in the country. Yet, were are not going to get a chance to see that happen…I really liked to see what ASU did. They never gave up. They kept fighting. That’s stuff you can build on. It’s not going to happen in just two years with coach Graham, but what he is building is definitely heading in the right direction.”
Jake’s choice if he had a Heisman vote: “If I had a vote, my vote would go to Jordan Lynch…1. He’s gone through school. He stayed in school and he embodies Northern Illinois. An amazing football player. In games I’ve watched and I’ve been lucky enough to watch him because they played Wednesday and Thursday nights a lot, he makes plays for his team. The team needs him to make a play and he makes a play. They are down and need to make a drive, he makes three or four big plays to make that drive. To me, that’s a Heisman candidate. Put him on a bigger team, a bigger conference, a money school, he would be a runaway. He would be the Heisman candidate. If he was on Texas A&M this year, he would have won the Heisman on week six.”
Jake on Ka’Deem Carey not being a Heisman finalist: “They have Boston College’s Andre Williams, I really don’t know why he is there and Ka’Deem Carey is not. Ka’Deem Carey comes from a 7-5 team, people can say that. But Ka’Deem Carey is the best running back in college football hands down I believe.”
