Case-in-point, Basha quarterback Ryan Kelley this week saw his recruitment take us on a roller coaster ride.
Just a few days after de-committing from the Oregon Ducks, one of the nation’s top QB’s for the 2017 class announced he will in turn be committing to Todd Graham and Arizona State.

The 6-4, 185 pound signal caller is coming off a brilliant 2015 season which saw him throw for over 2,600 yards, 20 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. Kelley initially committed to Oregon back on November 12th and upon that announcement had ASU listed in his top five. Offensive coordinator Scott Frost was mentioned quite a few times on that day and Frost has since left Oregon to be the Head Coach at UCF.
“A lot of things changed at Oregon,” Kelley told Sports360AZ. “Coach Frost left and I think that was the biggest thing.Things got a little difficult with the relationships with Coach Yost and Coach Lubick. I talked to them every once in a while but it wasn’t like all the time and eventually (ASU offensive coordinator) Chip Linsey was always hitting me up…I kept talking to him, building a relationship and it clicked from there.”
Kelley is now committed to the Sun Devils joining an already deep batch of quarterbacks on the roster in a summer that is seeing Manny Wilkins, Brady White and Bryce Perkins competing for the job and Texas standout Dillon Sterling-Cole joining the team this season.
“I enjoy competition,” Kelley said of the quarterback battle he is in for. “It’s not a big thing for me because I always like to compete.”
He went on to say that the history of the quarterback position at ASU was also a major factory when it came to him turning his attention to the Sun Devils.
Kelley becomes the second ASU commit for the 2017 class after linebacker Loren Mondy from Texas.
