Kelley Headed to Oregon

Arizona Sports News online

After having long conversations with his family and developing relationships with coaches at the next level around the country, the top junior quarterback in Arizona decided it was time to end his recruitment. On Thursday morning from the Basha High School gymnasium, Ryan Kelley announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks.

“When I went up there for my visit, I really fell in love with everything up there,” Kelley said. “Their seasons, their school, the college town. Everything about Oregon I really love.”

The 6-3, 185 pound pro-style quarterback believes his style of play fits great with how the Ducks do things on the offensive side of the ball

“I see myself fitting their scheme really well,” he explained. “I see myself being able to run and throw so I feel like I can fit their scheme really well.”

Kelley has spent a lot of time over the last several months developing a great relationship with Oregon’s coaching staff and talks to them frequently.

“I feel really comfortable with them because I do talk with them every single day,” Kelley mentioned. “I do talk to Jim Fisher every single day from Oregon. I talk to Coach (Scott) Frost a lot and same with Coach (Mark) Helfrich.”

Kelley finished his 2015 season with 2,606 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions on the season. Over the last several seasons, the Ducks have done a great job recruiting in Arizona and he now joins AZ high school alumni in defensive back Reggie Daniels (Hamilton), wide receiver Devon Allen (Brophy), defensive lineman Jalen Jelks (Desert Vista), wide receiver Jalen Brown (Mountain Pointe) and running back Kani Benoit (Thunderbird) who currently represent the state on the Oregon roster.
