The Cardinals cut Kerry Rhodes on Wednesday, and saved $6 million in the process, which will help them during the free agency period and beyond.
Rhodes had a solid 2012 season for Arizona, but when it comes down to the bottom line – money – sometimes a team like the Cardinals have to make really hard decisions, and more often that not they’re not popular ones, but they’re ones they have to make.
A day after his release, Rhodes, per Mike Jurecki at XTRA910, put out this statement:
“Playing with the Cardinals has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I want to thank my coaches, teammates and Arizona fans everywhere for making the last three years truly remarkable. Change is always exciting and I’m optimistic about what the future holds. Wherever I go or whatever I do, I look forward to working hard and giving 110%, as always.”
