It was a busy day for some top defensive lineman prospects in Arizona.
This morning, Central lineman Eloi Kwete committed to Massachusetts.

Later that night, Desert Edge defensive lineman Nassir Sims followed Cosmas’ lead and committed to the Cougars as well.

The Kwete brothers have traveled far to get to the gridiron. The brothers are orignally from the Congo, played on the 17-and-under rugby national team in Zimbabwe before coming to Phoenix through a refugee program. They used those rugby skills to become two of the top tacklers in the state last season.

Sims asserted himself along the Scorpions’ defensive line as a sophomore and hasn’t looked back since. In close to three seasons, Sims notched 118 tackles, 36.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. He’s been a senior leader for the #3 team in 4A all season.
Washington State has done a phenomenal job recruiting Arizona this class. In addition to Kwete and Sims, Casteel quarterback Gunner Cruz, who threw his 100th career passing touchdown this past week, is also a Cougar pledge.
