The Phoenix Suns announced on Monday that they have decided to part ways with their General Manager Lance Blanks. Once the season concluded, there was speculation that Blanks could be out and just five days after the end of the second worst season in franchise history, it came to fruition.
“Lance has been a trusted friend and colleague,” said Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby. “I thank him personally and professionally for his hard work on behalf of the Suns. We will continue to prepare for the offseason even as we look for his replacement.”
Blanks served in the front office of the Cleveland Cavs and San Antonio Spurs before being named the general manager in Phoenix on August 5th, 2010. He spent three full seasons with the Suns. A period in which the team did not make the playoffs once.
Babby will be meeting with the media on Tuesday to discuss more on them parting with Blanks and also future plans for the Suns as an important off-season including a high lottery pick and cap space has begun.
