A controversial penalty call in the waning moments Saturday night, was the difference, as San Antonio FC dropped Phoenix Rising FC 1-0, at Rising Soccer Complex in Scottsdale
.
Rising Goalkeeper Josh Cohen collided with San Antonio’s Cesar Elizondo In the 85th minute that resulted in the play of the match. Rafa Castillo drilled the PK to give San Antonio FC the positive result and send Rising FC to their second straight defeat.

“We have to accept when referee gives a penalty, so I don’t want to argue about it,” head Coach Patrice Carteron said. “I’m really sad for the boys because I had the feeling that it was our best game since I’ve been here. I think we deserved today at least a draw.”

Didier Drogba came close to leveling the match and being a hero once again after Rising was given two free-kicks. headerIn the 88th Drogba kicked a low curling line drive shot that found the hands of San Antonio keeper Diego Restrepo denying Phoenix the tying goal. In stoppage time Drogba’s shot curled just over the post.

Phoenix Rising will attempt to end their two-game skid when they go on the road next Saturday against Los Angeles Galaxy II.
