Memphis Plucks Top Arizona O-lineman

Arizona Sports News online

Former Arizona State offensive coordinator Mike Norvell has convinced his first Arizona high school player to come play for him at Memphis.

Chandler offensive lineman Dustin Woodard, one of the top in-state 2016 players, said “yes’ to Norvell on Sunday morning.

The commitment of Woodard is significant from this standpoint. Arizona high school football players have had options to leave the State in the past. Now that Norvell was able to convince Woodard (6″2, 285) to come, will others follow to that destination? Desert Ridge defensive tackle DJ Davidson traveled to Memphis on a visit to the Tigers just a couple of weeks ago. Norvell could siphon off more good players that are Pac-12 quality and convince them to come east.
