Kerry Taylor knows the Arizona football scene well. He was a standout at Hamilton High School and Arizona State University. He’s played for the Cardinals and coached with Chandler High School and Salt River High School, a member of the Canyon Athletic Association.
Last week, he took over at Arcadia High School and has wasted no time compiling a staff with plenty of experience at the NFL and college level, as well as adding key coaches from some of the top high school programs in the state.

“It’s the best coaching staff in the state,” Taylor said. “I will put this coaching staff up against any other coaching staff in the state and guarantee this staff has more experience and knowledge. These guys can relate to the kids.”
Getting acquainted with a team can be daunting, so the staff held a combine Friday night to see the type of talent they would be working with. It gave the coaches an opportunity to get a look at their players and start building relationships.
“You can see guys’ highlights from last year or you hear things, but to see with your own eyes makes a huge difference,” Taylor said. “To get the kids out here, and get that first time showing what they can do off their back really helps them out confidence-wise.”
The Titans are coming off an 0-10 season, but that doesn’t mean Taylor isn’t setting high expectations.
“It’s going to be tough to flip that switch from 0-10 to I don’t know if it’s going to be an undefeated season or a making the playoffs type of season,” Taylor said. “It’s going to be extremely hard, but I think we have the coaches and and the right leadership of players to make that a reality.”
Taylor said over 70 players came out to Friday night’s combine and they expect an addition 50-60 freshman players to go out for football.
