Norvell understands he wouldn’t be in the position he is today without his time in maroon and gold.
“It was incredible,” He said to Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat in a phone interview Monday. “I loved my time in Tempe. It was my first time in a leadership role. It was the first time I really hired a staff and developed those guys to what we did.”

Norvell helped Graham turn ASU into a steady, consistent winner before chasing his dream of becoming a head coach at Memphis.
With that being said, Tempe was certainly the launching point for his success.
“I was grateful for every day that I had there,” he continued. “The relationships that were forged. The people are what really stood out to me during that time. It was always very welcoming and just a special time in my life.”
Norvell’s former school will play his new school as the Sun Devils and Seminoles will meet in the Sun Bowl on New Year’s Eve Day in El Paso.
