I have said it before, the 2013 class in Arizona is deep and talented!
Several players received their first DI offers this week, bringing the standing total to 26 players now holding Division I scholarship offers. I break down those players below.
Notre Dame Prep linebacker Luke Taffuri – Luke was offered by Army last night and I will bet money that the other service academies will follow, especially Air Force, who recruits Arizona very well. If Taffuri were a bit taller, he would have more and bigger offers by now. But 5’11” to 6′ linebackers is not ideal for many BCS schools. Looks for him to have his pick of FCS programs and academic FBS programs before he graduates.
Desert Vista safety Nick Farina – The all-state player was offered by South Dakota State on Wednesday and I would think the FCS schools that recruit here, i.e. NAU, North Dakota State, etc. will follow. Farina shows great instincts on film and makes big hit after big hit. Smaller FBS programs will be in the mix for Farina too.
Salpointe offensive lineman Travis Fister – The 6’3″, 260 pound Fister also got his first offer from South Dakota State but he will have eight offers before signing day. Talented offensive linemen are hard to find and Fister is talented and versatile. He does not have the greatest size so that may keep big time schools off him, but he will have his choice of mid-major programs.
Centennial offensive tackle Hayden Johnson – He also got his first offer from South Dakota State. The 6’5″, 250 pounder says Duke and ASU are seriously interested.
Salpointe linebacker Carlos Carroll – Carroll was hot last week. SMU, South Dakota State and San Diego State all offered. Expect one of the in-state FBS schools to offer when his senior film is out.
