Are the Olympics Still “Money”?

Arizona Sports News online

Once upon a time the Olympic Games were held in high regard and reverence. With the Rio Games starting in the next week, I wish I could say that I have the same feelings about the Games taking place as I did in previous years. Sure, the ratings will be astronomical. Nothing else on the sports calendar will push the masses like Michael Phelps in the pool or the next star in gymnastics. NBC can put out dancing bears and still get a crooked ratings point. It beats preseason football, but not by much.I have to wonder if the Network carrying these Games is going to do their journalistic duty as others have done around Rio. Polluted water in Guanabara Bay, political corruption, Zika virus, Russians doping, and poor working conditions have all been written about. Will we get a whole bunch of smiles and nods without substance from the Peacock Network? That remains to be seen…

To prevent the scandal, poor facilities, and corruption around the Games, how about making Athens, Greece the permanent home?
