Priest Willis has a list of his “Top 7” schools, which include LSU, UCLA, USC, Virginia, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Florida State.
With Willis eyeing all those schools, does Arizona State have any chance to land this four-star defensive back/wide receiver?
Willis – who’s stellar play over the last two years at Marcos De Niza has garnered him all this attention – spoke very highly of LSU and Virginia and the visits he took to those schools. He was just as complimentary when speaking on the Sun Devils.
“It’s my backyard,” Willis said. “I like Todd Graham and what he’s done with that program. He’s really turned it around.”
Willis has seen a major shift in the program’s philosophy since Graham and his staff have taken the reigns.
“Those players have discipline now, and that’s what they’ve lacked over the years,” Willis said. “I think a lot of people who’ve been out of state are starting to see that and [are] starting to stick home because [with] that discipline you win games and ASU showed that.”
Although he’s far from making a decision on where he’s playing his college ball at, in his mind, Willis has started to envision himself as a Sun Devil.
“I really see myself in that secondary,” Willis said. “Being the guy, pressing, jamming and helping them win championships if they get there.”
Before Sun Devil fans go nuts over Willis’ last statement, let me tell you again: he’s still a ways away from making a decision, but he maintains a strong affection for the Sun Devils throughout this whole process.
“I hold all these schools as equal, no one’s a leader for me, I like all schools right now,” Willis said.
“ASU, I love them,” Willis said. “If I play there, I have a supporting group.”
“I’ve been here for what? Fifteen years now, and it’d be great playing for the hometown.”
