Queen Creek athlete Trey Reynolds isn’t quick to talk about himself. The 2021 multi-sport athlete thrives on the field humbly and quietly.
But his play speaks for itself. Loudly.
No, literally. His hits can be heard throughout the stadium when he makes a tackle and his name is a constant from the public address announcer.
Those hits will be welcome in Kyle Whittingham’s defense as Reynolds has committed to the University of Utah to play linebacker.
Excited to announce that I am committed to the University of Utah! Thank you to everyone who has helped me through the process and the incredible Utah staff! @SafetyPride @Colton_Swan @Utah_Football pic.twitter.com/QDstaQKKqk

“They’re just a bunch of great men,” Reynolds said of the program. “That’s the type of people I want to be around. There are great guys over there, great coaches that know what they’re talking about.”
As a senior, the 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker had 157 tackles and an interception. He also played quarterback before Devin Brown became eligible, where he passed for six touchdowns and rushed for an additional eight. He has played linebacker, quarterback, running back and tight end with the Bulldogs.
Reynolds believes his time on the offense has improved him as a linebacker.
“It’s helped me so much,” Reynolds said. “I can see reads that I would do as a quarterback. I can translate that over to linebacker and it’s really helps me with my decision making and what the offense is trying to make me do. I really reverse those roles.”
Reynolds plans to enroll early to get a jump on his college career in Salt Lake City.
In addition to the Utes, he holds offers from Utah State, BYU, Wisconsin, Washington, Iowa State, Indiana, Washington State, Duke, Illinois, Arizona, Colorado, Yale, NAU, San Diego State, Oklahoma State, Virginia, Oregon, UCLA, Boise State, Kansas State, Fresno State, Air Force, UNLV and Michigan State.
Reynolds and his Bulldog teammates is one of the most recruited groups in school history. Along with Reynolds, safety Hunter Barth has committed to Cal, and offensive tackle Isaia Glass, safety Krew Jackson, quarterback Devin Brown and defensive lineman Porter Reynolds, Trey’s younger brother, all hold Power 5 offers.
