Story by Andrew Bell
In case you haven’t heard, former Chandler High School head football coach Shaun Aguano is leaving the Wolves program to become the new ASU running backs coach in Tempe.
Aguano leaves behind an Arizona high school powerhouse that boasted state titles in four of the last five seasons during his time at Chandler, including three consecutive state titles in the last three years. Originally hired as Wolves head coach in 2011, the Hawaiian native drew quite the positive response from the local community.
Here is what a few people had to say about the hire:
Couldn’t be happier for my guy Shaun Aguano!

Congratulations to Shaun Aguano on his new position with ASU. Got the Wolves over the hump and then kept them at an elite national level. Also appreciate how he always made time for me whether in offseason or before games. Spread that Ohana style to Tempe, Coach!

One of the greatest men I have ever known! So thankful that my son had the opportunity to be coached and mentored by him . This is a great win for ASU. Best of luck coach! We love you!

These were just a few of the outpourings in support of the Aguano hire. Aguano will also reunite with some of his former players on the ASU roster such as junior defensive back Chase Lucas and sophomore tight end Jarick Caldwell.
Aguano was an NAIA All-American running back during his playing career, and he coached former Wolves halfbacks such as Cal signee DeCarlos Brooks, current Utah back TJ Green, and current Northwestern running back Drake Anderson.
At ASU, Aguano will take over a backfield that includes redshirt junior Isaiah Floyd, sophomore A.J. Carter, and junior third team All-American Eno Benjamin.
