2018 Arizona Quarterback Recruit Breakdown:
Jack Plummer
The Gilbert quarterback has added offers from Boise State and Arizona recently and is coming off a year where he threw for 18 touchdowns. In two years, Plummer has thrown for over 4,000 yard and 34 touchdowns. He has a big, 6-foot-5 frame to add size to as well.
Tyler Shough
Scout.com recruiting analyst Blair Angulo saw the Hamilton quarterback at the Pylon 7-on-7 tournament this weekend in Las Vegas and had this to say about him: “Very accurate and precise, made good decisions with the football and made sure to lead his receivers. Nice touch on the deep ball, simple mechanics in the pocket but also able to roll out and maintain that accuracy while throwing on the run.”
Brock Purdy
The Perry signal-caller was one of the most productive players in the state in 2016, accounting for over 4,000 yards and 48 total touchdowns and leading Perry to an 11-2 record, the best in school history. Purdy was a standout at the Pylon 7-on-7 tournament last weekend, where Scout national recruiting director Brandon Huffman said Purdy “carved up a pretty good Bishop Gorman defense, fitting the ball into tight spaces, making all the throws, showing good touch on his passes and good decision-making.” Purdy will will be attending the Elite 11 regional in Dallas this upcoming week, as well as receiving Cal football camp invite.
Jamarye Joiner
Joiner is an Arizona commit that has the capabilities to play quarterback at the next level but is also athletic enough to have a future as a wide receiver or defensive back. The Cienega playmaker threw for over 1.700 yards and 17 touchdowns while rushing for 762 yards and an additional 13 scores. Like Sabino’s Drew Dixon, Arizona continues to earn commitments from versatile playmakers in Tucson.
Max Massingale
The dual-threat quarterback was the next in line for Saguaro and delivered in his first season running the Sabercat offense. He threw for 2,291 yards and 30 touchdowns and just four interceptions, while also rushing for 1,012 yards and 12 scores. He teamed up with running back Stone Matthews as a potent running tandem that combined for over 3,000 yards on the ground and 43 touchdowns in Jason Mohns’ high-powered offense.
