Calhoun grew up in Arizona and played for ASU. He was the 100th Sun Devil to make it to the big leagues and posted a .317 average with 29 home runs and 112 runs batted in over two seasons. Calhoun was dubbed the “Mayor of Omaha” after an incredible run in the 2009 College World Series where he posted a .563 batting average with three home runs and 11 RBI.
Calhoun was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the eighth round of the 2010 MLB draft and spent his entire pro career with the Halos. In 2019, he slashed .232/.335/.467 with a career-high 33 home runs. He also brings defensive consistency to right field.
The Diamondbacks will likely look to add more outfield depth as well as more bullpen options as the offseason continues.
