Quarterback Rhett Rodriguez, the son of Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez will be staying home at the next level to play for his father. While Coach Rod has been coaching Rhett Rod his whole life, this will officially be the first time he will actually play for his father.

“This is the first time he will be coach and Dad,” Rhett told Sports360AZ.com. “This is something I’ve dreamed about and thought about my entire life and it is awesome to see it coming true.”

Rodriguez is coming off a stellar junior season in which he threw for over 2,500 yards, 20 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He also ran for 14 touchdowns leading Catalina Foothills to a 9-3 record.

The Falcons have gone 24- 10 on the football field in Rodriguez’s three seasons under center. They went 0-10 the year before he arrived.

Rodriguez joins four star quarterback Braxton Burmeister as the lone Wildcat commits thus far for the 2017 class.
