Salpointe Catholic point guard Cameron Miller is leading the 10-6 Lancers with precise passing, sharpshooting and physical defense. He is constantly communicating with head coach Brian Holstrom and relaying instruction to the other four on the floor.
Communicating with coaches is something he has done his entire life. Miller’s father is Arizona head basketball coach Sean Miller. Coming from a family where his father, uncle, Dayton head basketball coach Archie Miller, and grandfather, legendary Pennsylvania high school basketball coach John Miller, Cameron has had loved the game of basketball, and he doesn’t foresee that changing. Miller prefers looking to the future rather than the past. His father’s best lesson but focus on the “next play.”
The “steady” point guard, as Holstrom describes him, has developed into a senior leader who has transformed from a defensive liability his sophomore year to the team’s best defender, often times slowing down players who are much bigger than him.
Miller has an offer from Youngstown State and has received interest from various Patriot League and American East league teams.
