Over the course of five years, Sun Devil Stadium has received a facelift for fans and players alike.
On Thursday, the stadium got one step closer in preparation for the 2019 season: the ribbon-cutting for the San Tan Ford Club.
The club features 12,000 square feet of air-conditioned space, and the stadium level has over 1,000 seats along the east sideline.
“I get around to see some of the other Pac-12 venues, and clearly we’ve gotten a little long in the tooth,” San Tan Ford owner Tim Hovik said.
“For us to leapfrog the other facilities, I would put Sun Devil Stadium and the fan experience that they’re able to offer here up at the very top echelon of the Pac-12.”
The renovations in total took five years to complete, and ASU football coach Herm Edwards said he is already seeing the benefits of the stadium updates.
“It enhances your ability to recruit,” Edwards said. “College football is about recruiting. 80%, a lot of it has to do with facilities and we have some of the better facilities in the country.”
The Sun Devils kick off the 2019 season on August 29th against Kent State.
