Overcoming adversity is the mark of a true champion. The 2018 Sun Devil Football team may not win the Pac-12 South(though there’s still a shot) but Herm Edwards squad once again showed the ability to hang tough and be in position to win at the end of the game. This time the Sun Devils rose above the noise in their 38-35 victory at USC.
ASU looked like they were going to cruise to the victory, leading 24-7 nearing halftime, but would actually be trailing the game in the third quarter. Manny Wilkins coughed up the football to the Trojons after taking a big hit. USC would respond taking a 28-24 lead on a double pass from Tyler Vaughns to Michael Pittman Jr. early in the period.
N’Keal Harry would be the difference maker for the Sun Devils, scoring on a 92 yard punt return to put ASU back on top 31-28. Harry would score on a 44 yard pass from Wilkins earlier in the game. He would finish the game with 203 yards in total offense.
Eno Benjamin would rush for 185 yards and two scores, as the Sun Devils would improve to 4-4, 2-3 in Pac-12. Up next for Arizona State will be the Utah Utes, who hold down first place in the Pac-12 South. Kickoff at Sun Devil Stadium is at 1pm next Saturday.
