South Title Is Sun Devils To Lose, National TV Matchup For Sabercats – Huskies

Arizona Sports News online

If there were ever a time to buy stock in Arizona State football, it would be now. Am I the only one who believes they will win the South? I can’t possibly be the only one who sees a pretty clear path to the Pac-12 title game.

I’m bullish on the Sun Devils chances of playing in a New Year’s Day Bowl Game, even if I’m unsure how many bowl games will still be in business by the time we get to late December. It’s not just having Jayden Daniels under center for my high level of optimism.

Herm Edwards didn’t have players opt out. Others in the conference can’t say the same. USC and UCLA haven’t been doing much of anything because of state health guidelines. Graduation took a bunch of talent out of Utah and the Utes didn’t get much spring practice before COVID-19 hit.

I’m not one to wave the pom poms for any team unless they’re going to be good. ASU is going to be good, maybe even great. In a season where LSU and Oklahoma already have one loss, ANYTHING is possible in 2020 college football.

When Zac Gallen is the only real bright spot for the Diamondbacks 2020 season, that tells you all you really need to know about how the year played out. Don’t get me wrong, Gallen was a shining light, but he’s only in the lineup card every fifth day.

Were there any everyday players that you would look at and say, “well, he’s better than what the Dodgers or Padres are rolling out at the same position”. We are a looonnnggg ways from seeing a postseason worthy team in Arizona. Glad the season ends today…

Checked out Bill Murray’s new movie, “On the Rocks”. Terrific!

Hearing Chandler Hamilton vs Scottsdale Saguaro football game on October 23rd has been picked up by ESPN family of networks…

Saw the Huskies in person at their scrimmage this past week at Queen Creek. Hamilton is back, at least from the eye ball test. The program took a big hit in depth and talent following the hazing scandal back in 2017. The team that I saw on Wednesday night is more than a few big, strong offensive lineman. There’s lots of speed and size.

However, the team to beat still resides three miles north down Arizona Avenue. Chandler is the top dog as the season starts this Friday. The only way to change that is to win the rivalry game. Been awhile for the Huskies. Talk is cheap…

Cobra Kai on Netflix has plenty of cheese, but for those of us who remember The Karate Kid, it’s well worth the binge…

Must-see TV of the week: Chris Wallace moderating Trump vs Biden Tuesday Night.

Tim Healey and Jeff Munn do a very good job in covering the gamut of Arizona State sports on radio. Get your rest now fellas because once Sun Devil football and the two basketball programs get going in late November, you’ll likely not see many days off…

Score prediction: Cardinals 27-21 over the Lions.
