Not even Friday the 13th could spook the Arizona State football team who concluded their spring workouts with a spirit-filled practice and scrimmage in front of a near capacity, invite-only crowd at the ASU soccer stadium adjacent from campus.
The Devils went through a number of different individual and team drills before holding a mock scrimmage on a windy evening in Tempe.

Overall, first-year head coach Herm Edwards seemed pleased.
“The whole key tonight was, we have a foundation built,” he explained afterwards. “My eyes have told me a lot about this team and our staff. We’re headed in the right direction…I think these players understand the game of football is about competing. Life is about competing.”

For some the end of spring football marked a stark reminder of what’s just around the corner this fall.
“It’s crazy how fast time flies,” senior starting quarterback Manny Wilkins said. “[Thursday] I had a chance to finally take a step back…it made me a little emotional because I know how much a lot of my teammates and how much this university means to me. It was a cool moment for myself.”
ASU opens the season at newly renovated Sun Devil Stadium on September 1st against University of Texas-San Antonio.
